Conquista Central Station - The 7 days of creation
Registro exclusivo das filmagens de Central do Brasil em Vitória da Conquista em 1997
Genres
Overview
Exclusive record of the filming of Central do Brasil in Vitória da Conquista in 1997. The ProVídeo Uesb team had access to the backstage, testimonies from the team, actors and director Walter Sales, keeping unique moments from one of the most emblematic films of what came to be known as Cinema da Retomada. A project carefully thought out by cultural producer Jorge Melquisedeque, the video ended up not being produced by him - who would die in 2001. All the raw tapes were rescued in 2002 and edited with the script by Marcelo Lopes (based on Jorge's chronicles about the period) and directed by Esmon Primo for the tribute program to the 10 years of the Indiscreet Window Cine Vídeo Uesb Program.

The Legend in Me
Living in the shadow of Canadian sports legend Lionel Conacher (1900–1954), whose legacy spans five sports, is a daunting challenge for any relative. For great-grandchild Lionel IV, better known as Chas, that challenge extends beyond athletics into the realm of self-discovery. As a non-binary individual navigating identity in the 21st century, Chas explores both the weight of their family’s star-athlete lineage and the evolving landscape of queer identity in a documentary that bridges nostalgia with forward-looking reflection.

The Ban
In 1988, following a wave of IRA atrocities, the British Government introduced a Broadcasting Ban, silencing Sinn Féin and other loyalist and republican paramilitary groups by forbidding broadcasters to allow anyone affiliated with these bodies to speak on television or radio. Bizarrely, however, a legal loophole allowed broadcasters to circumvent the ban by simply employing actors to re-voice the original sequences. Using unseen archive footage and present-day interviews with key figures such as Gerry Adams and Stephen Rea, The Ban reflects on the British government’s use of the threat of ‘terrorism’ to justify censorship, drawing inevitable comparisons with the present.

Woman, Life, Freedom: An Iranian Revolution
On September 16, 2022, in Teheran, the murder by police of the young Mahsa Amini, arrested for "wearing a headscarf contrary to the law", sparked off an unprecedented insurrection. Within hours, a spontaneous movement formed around the rallying cry: "Woman, life, freedom". For the first time, women, joined by men and students, took the initiative and removed their veils, the hated symbol of the Islamic Republic. The Iranian population, from all regions and social categories, rose up in protest. Social networks went wild. The diaspora (between 5–8 million Iranians) took up the cause, and the whole world discovered the scale of this mobilization: could the theocratic regime be overthrown this time?
