Mac Dre: Legend of the Bay
Genres
Overview
Bay Area rapper Mac Dre began his career at 18 and quickly became an influential force in early west coast hip-hop. In 1992 he was convicted of conspiracy to commit bank robbery when his lyrics were used against him in court. He left prison with a new lease on life, founded an independent record company, and then was murdered just when he began to emerge as a star. For the first time ever, his mother Wanda reveals the true experiences of a hip-hop legend.

There's No Place Like Home
For all important things in our lives, there is a collection of things that come together that give them significance. For our favourite meals, it is a collection of ingredients coming together to form a taste that gives us comfort. For our homes, it is a collection of memorabilia, items, trinkets, and decorations that come together in a way that is representative of who we are. Our families are a group of several individuals who play different roles in our lives and come together to form our support system. For the Queer community, friends collectively join to form a support system that plays an essential role in their happiness and survival in a homophobic world. The human experience is collaborative and a collection of things that shape our lives. This documentary shows how the people in Alex’s life come together to keep them afloat.

The Rhythm of My Life: Ismael Sankara
Follows in an unconventional way the journey of 'ISH', a former Miami based rapper, who traveled to Africa to visit family. Little did he know that Libreville Gabon would be the place where the project of his dreams would fall on his laps. Against all expectations the alchemy born between him and 2 local beat-makers would lead to the making of a potential first album. Written and Directed by Marc A. Tchicot and Franck A. Onouviet, the film captures glimpse of great encounters and musical moments between people from opposite backgrounds driven by the same passion: music. 'The Rhythm of my life' belongs to the new generation of short films, which combine fiction and documentary style. Deeply grounded in the line of non formatted and guerrilla style independent projects, the rhythm of my life set a different direction for film-making in Gabon and Africa.

Yallah! Underground
Yallah! Underground follows some of today’s most influential and progressive artists in Arab underground culture from 2009 to 2013 and documents their work, dreams and fears in a time of great change for Arab societies. In a region full of tension, young Arab artists in the Middle East have struggled for years to express themselves freely and to promote more liberal attitudes within their societies. During the Arab Spring, like many others of this new generation, local artists had high hopes for the future and took part in the protests. However, after years of turmoil and instability, young Arabs now have to challenge both old and new problems, being torn between feelings of disillusion and a vague hope for a better future.
